Today we want to take you to one of the most interesting places that you must visit if you visit Mallorca. We are talking about the Serra de Tramuntana, a World Heritage Site. This island has not only charming villages, but also incredible natural spots that you can explore by hiking, such as the <a title=\"GR 221 Dry Stone Walk\" href=\"https:\/\/www.howlanders.com\/en\/tours-spain\/mallorca\/gr221-dry-stone-walk\">gr221 route<\/a>, a very interesting history and even literary figures who have been inspired by this region of the island. Let&#8217;s go there!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">What is the Serra de Tramuntana?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Serra de Tramuntana or Tramuntana mountain range is a region in the northwest of the island of Mallorca. This mountain range is the most important in the Balearic Islands and stretches for <strong>almost 90 kilometres<\/strong>, from Andratx to the cape of Formentor. Its highest point, and that of all the Balearic Islands, is <strong>Puig Major<\/strong>. You can cover it in its entirety or in stages. We propose a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.howlanders.com\/en\/tours-spain\/mallorca\/serra-tramuntana-hiking\" title=\"Serra de Tramuntana hiking\">tour of the 3 most beautiful stages of the Serra de Tramuntana<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Although it is not official, there is also a <strong>region called Serra de Tramuntana<\/strong>. The region was declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 2011, in this case as a cultural landscape due to the combination of human and natural factors. Lots of villages of the Tramuntana Mountains blend with spectacular landscapes to create a symbiosis that is unique on the whole island.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/blog.howlanders.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/01\/serra-tramuntana-vistas.jpg?w=640&#038;ssl=1\" alt=\"vistas de serra de tramuntana\" class=\"wp-image-29610\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">The villages of the Serra de Tramuntana<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The villages of the Serra de Tramuntana have managed to maintain <strong>the natural essence of the place<\/strong>. They are also perfect for strolling around and admiring the traditional architecture. This can be seen in the mountain houses built in limestone that dominate the landscape.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Valldemossa<\/strong>, with its cobbled streets and stone houses. <strong>Soller<\/strong> with its port and wooden train. And <strong>Dei\u00e0<\/strong> with its views of the Mediterranean and its church of San Juan Bautista are some of the most outstanding villages in the region that you should visit.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Fortnalux<\/strong> is the jewel in the crown, which is included in the list of <strong>the Most Beautiful Villages in Spain<\/strong>. With just 680 inhabitants, it retains all the essence of the villages of the Tramuntana Mountains, which has remained intact to this day.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Natural sites in the Tramuntana mountain<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Serra de Tramuntana also offers thousands of nature activities. The one we recommend is <strong>hiking<\/strong>, as this region offers a multitude of routes for all levels. If you are going for it, we would like to recommend 3 perfect natural spots for a getaway to the Serra de Tramuntana.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Torrent de Pareis and Sa Calobra<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">One of the best routes through the Serra de Tramuntana is the <a title=\"Torrent de Pareis Gorge Walk\" href=\"https:\/\/www.howlanders.com\/en\/tours-spain\/mallorca\/torrent-pareis-gorge-walk\">Torrent de Pareis<\/a>. Declared a Natural Monument in 2003, this torrent crosses the Serra de Tramuntana from S&#8217;Entrefoc to Sa Calobra for <strong>3 kilometres<\/strong>. You will be most impressed by its vertical walls, which in some sections of the route reach an altitude of 200 metres as a result of erosion caused by the water.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/blog.howlanders.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/01\/sa-calobra-serra-tramuntana.jpg?w=640&#038;ssl=1\" alt=\"sa calobra serra de tramuntana\" class=\"wp-image-29614\" title=\"Sa Calobra Majorca\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">At its mouth is <strong>Sa Calobra<\/strong>, a small cove protected by high cliffs that on calm days shows blue tones worthy of the Caribbean.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Sa Foradada<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This peninsula is very close to the town of Dei\u00e0, and is one of those corners that will take your breath away. The options are to walk down to the jetty or to reach the small cove by boat and admire the famous rock of Sa Foradada, so named because of the hollow in its centre.
