During this day you will walk the section that includes the towns of <b>Cuzco and Wayllamba<\/b>.<\/p>\n<p>At <b>4:00 a.m.<\/b> the Inca Trail adventure begins with a bus ride to <b>Piskacuchu<\/b>, at an altitude of more than <b>2,700 meters<\/b>. This is where it all begins. You will travel along the beautiful <b>Urubamba River<\/b> until its course leaves you in Miskay. <\/p>\n<p>From here you will ascend to 3,000 meters above sea level to enjoy the <b>Llactapata viewpoint<\/b> at the highest point of the mountain. From here you will be able to enjoy the impressive views of the <b>ancient Inca city of Llactapaca<\/b>.<\/p>\n<p>The journey will continue for the next 5 hours through the valley that creates parallel to the <b>Kusichaca River<\/b>. You will have to cover a distance of <b>16 kilometers<\/b>, which connects the towns of <b>Picaymayo and Wi\u00f1aywayna<\/b>. In total, you will do half a day, that is, 12 hours.<\/p>\n<p>After 3 kilometers you will arrive at <b>Abra Runkurakay<\/b>, one of the main <b>archaeological complexes<\/b> on the way to Machu Picchu. It is around <b>4,000 meters in altitude<\/b> and will be the highest point you will reach. <\/p>\n<p><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" title=\"Archaeological ruins of Abra Runkurakay\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/blog.howlanders.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/09\/abra-runkurakay-itinerary-inca-trail.jpg?resize=640%2C310&#038;ssl=1\" alt=\"archeologial site in inca trail\" width=\"640\" height=\"310\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-15240\" srcset=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/blog.howlanders.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/09\/abra-runkurakay-itinerary-inca-trail.jpg?w=825&amp;ssl=1 825w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/blog.howlanders.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/09\/abra-runkurakay-itinerary-inca-trail.jpg?resize=768%2C371&amp;ssl=1 768w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/blog.howlanders.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/09\/abra-runkurakay-itinerary-inca-trail.jpg?resize=124%2C60&amp;ssl=1 124w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 640px) 100vw, 640px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>After this you will descend to another archaeological complex, that of <b>Sayacmarca<\/b>, to visit its two parts: the ceremonial and the residential, as well as the irrigation system that centuries later supplies the area.<\/p>\n<p>The demanding trek of the third day will continue through the <b>Inca tunnel<\/b> to reach the third archaeological complex of the day, that of <b>Phuyupatamarta<\/b>, also known as &#8220;city above the clouds&#8221;, a nickname whose origin lies in its proximity to the sky.<\/p>\n<h3>Arrival at Machu Picchu: Day 4<\/h3>\n<p>The fourth and last day of the <strong>Inca Trail<\/strong> is the most relaxed as far as hiking is concerned since on this last day you will enjoy more the arrival to the desired destination: the <b>Machu Picchu<\/b>.
