Where are Maras and Moray?<\/h2>\n

With the general information of the Salt mines of Maras, Moray and Chinchero<\/a> that we explained in the previous post, you could see that Maras and Moray are two places with a rich history<\/strong>. Each one of them is special and different<\/strong>, located in the Sacred Valley of the Incas<\/a>.<\/p>\n

How to get to Maras Moray ?<\/h2>\n

To get to Maras and Moray we have to make two stops<\/strong>, one at the salt mines of Maras and the other at the archaeological zone of Moray, so to avoid wasting too much time between journeys, we will explain the most convenient options<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Go on your own to Maras and Moray<\/h3>\n

To go on your own<\/strong> to Maras and Moray, the trip takes a bit of time<\/strong> as you have to stop at each place. Moreover, public transport from one place to another is almost non-existent.<\/p>\n

One option, although a bit complicated, is to go by bus from Cuzco<\/strong> and take another bus from there to Urubamba. In this town, you will have to take a cab<\/strong> to the town of Maras and either walk from there to the salt mines which are 5km away or hire a cab. Then, to continue to Moray, you should take another cab to the archaeological zone and another one to return to the place where you are staying, either in Cusco or Ollantaytambo.<\/p>\n

Another option is to go directly to the salt mines of Maras by cab and from there take the same route we just mentioned.<\/p>\n

Go with an agency to Maras and Moray<\/h3>\n

Without any doubt, booking a tour<\/strong> with an agency is the most comfortable and easy option<\/strong>. This way you don’t have to worry about how to get to Maras and Moray, and a guide<\/strong> will be able to explain to you everything that these wonderful places hide. <\/p>\n

A quite usual way to go to Maras and Moray<\/a> is with an agency. It is neither better nor worse, but what is true is that it will give you fewer problems<\/strong> because you will have everything done. Also, having a guide with you explaining everything you’re going to see is always a plus.<\/p>\n

This way you will have the opportunity to explore<\/strong> the incredible landscapes of the archaeological zone of Moray and the salt mines of Maras. Furthermore, the tours usually include a visit to Chinchero<\/strong>, a charming town with a handicraft market that will surprise you! So besides making the trip shorter, you will discover more spots than if you go on your own.<\/p>\n

How to get from Cuzco to Maras and Moray<\/h2>\n

Many tours to Maras Moray leave directly<\/strong> from the city of Cusco so if you prefer not to think about how to get there, the ideal would be to hire one. This way, the transportation is included<\/strong>, so you don’t have to worry about how to get there, how to move from Maras to Moray and how to get back to where you are staying. <\/p>\n

However, if you prefer to go on your own, you should either take a cab to Maras and then to Moray or go by bus as explained above.<\/p>\n

How to get from Ollantaytambo to Maras and Moray?<\/h2>\n

If you leave from Ollantaytambo it is faster<\/strong> to get to Maras and Moray as they are closer. Ideally, you should take a cab<\/strong> from Ollantaytambo, first stop in Moray and follow the road to Maras.<\/p>\n
