Hello, my name is Annia and I am going to tell you about my experience during the Todo Glaciares boat trip 🙂 An unforgettable adventure!
Like most tours in El Calafate, the day before the Todo Glaciares Boat Trip, we received a WhatsApp confirming the pick-up time at our accommodation. We had to be ready by 7:15 a.m. They also sent us a QR code, which we would use to board the boat, and reminded us that the park entrance fee could be purchased online or directly at the entrance.
Since we had already visited the park the day before, we showed our entrance ticket and received a 50% discount, reducing the fee to 15,000 ARS. This time, we didn’t have cash, so we paid with a credit card. However, the connection was poor, making the process more complicated. Therefore, I recommend always carrying cash, as they only accept Visa credit cards for payment, and not all cards are supported.
Entrance to the All Glacier Boat
Once we had our tickets, we joined the line to scan our QR code and board the ship. They told us the name of our sailing, making it easy to find our boat. Since lunch was included, we were also given a ticket for a coffee on board, which we could enjoy during the trip.

Boat to the All Glaciers Cruise
We were ready for adventure! After walking a few meters through the harbor to our boat, we headed upstairs to find our seats. The lower level was already full, so we chose a spot by the window upstairs to enjoy the best view. As the guides had informed us, we had to keep the same seats for the entire trip—no changing allowed.
Onboard and ready to explore the Glaciers
And just like that, we were on our way! Onboard, we were accompanied by guides who explained everything through a microphone. First, they covered the safety measures, followed by an overview of the day’s itinerary—detailing the stops we’d make and the schedule we’d follow. They then shared fascinating explanations about the glaciers as we sailed along. I found it particularly interesting to learn about the length and history of each glacier.
For instance, did you know that the Upsala Glacier, located on the northern arm of the lake, is the largest in the region? It stretches 50 km long and almost 10 km wide.
During the ride, you could either stay in your seat or head outside to take in the breathtaking views. We decided to explore the ship and found the restrooms and cafeteria downstairs, so we grabbed a coffee to enjoy.

Photographic Stops: The Glaciers Up Close
Throughout the day, we made three scenic stops at the park’s largest and most impressive glaciers: Hein, Upsala, and Spegazzini. The boat stopped for about 15 minutes at each glacier, giving us the perfect opportunity to step outside, take some photos, and fully appreciate the awe-inspiring beauty of the glaciers and surrounding landscapes.
A pleasant stop at the Spegazzini Refuge
Before the third stop at the Spegazzini Glacier, we disembarked at the Spegazzini Refuge where we had 2 hours free to eat and explore the area. Through some footbridges we accessed the Refuge, which has privileged views and where a delicious meal awaited us.

Information – Information – When you book the All Glacier Navigation you can choose between 3 menus:
– Classic option: beef empanada and guanaco goulash
– Classic option 2: salad and lamb casserole
– Vegetarian option: vegetable empanada and lentil and vegetable casserole
All menus include a soft drink and the dessert of white and dark chocolate mousse.
* You also have the option to bring your own food and heat it up at the lodge.
As there were two of us, we were lucky enough to taste both the lamb casserole and the guanaco goulash. Although we liked both options, my recommendation is to try the guanaco goulash. It is a typical food of the area that you cannot eat in other parts of the world since the guanaco is a type of lama that lives only in some areas of South America, such as Patagonia.
After lunch we walked around the Refugio, through the trails that take you to different viewpoints, to the shore of the bay and through the forest area. You will find rest areas and many informative signs where you can learn more about the lake, the glaciers and the mountains that surround you. A beautiful place to really disconnect and connect with the natural environment!

Last stop: Spegazzini Glacier
At 1:30 pm we returned to the navigation and set off for the last stop of the day, which was only a few meters away: the Spegazzini glacier. We were very fortunate as we were able to witness a spectacle such as the detachment of the glacier. For me it was an impressive moment, with the noise and the movement of the water that this generates.
After the last stop, we start sailing back to the port. A journey of less than an hour and a half where 60 km are covered. The return was quiet, people were tired and it showed because most of them stayed in their seats, there was almost no one outside and some even took the opportunity to take a nap. We continued enjoying the views and that unique moment touring Los Glaciares National Park.

At 4 pm we arrived at Puerto Banderas and said goodbye to the navigation. The driver who had brought us in the morning was waiting for us on land and took us back to our lodging in El Calafate, thus ending an unforgettable day.
