A Relaxed Hike with Views of Lake Nordenskjöld
After the long hike yesterday, today feels much calmer. We start the morning with a slow, peaceful breakfast.
Most of today’s elevation gain happens within the first two kilometers, but it’s exactly that section that rewards us with incredible views of Lake Nordenskjöld. Along the way, we cross a few small bridges and gradually get closer to Central Sector. The day remains overcast, but the strong winds from yesterday are gone, turning this part of the circuit into a scenic stroll.

As we approach the end of today’s trail, the path splits: one trail continues to Chileno Sector, while the other leads us to Central Sector (also known as Torre Central). Here you’ll find the campground and mountain lodge, and a bit further out, Hotel Las Torres.

Central Sector: One of the Park’s Main Gateways
When we arrive at the lodge, we’re surprised by how large it is. Like Paine Grande Sector, Central Sector is one of the main gateways to Torres del Paine National Park, which means it has the capacity to accommodate more travelers and sees a lot of visitor traffic.
We settle into our room and end the day with a special Christmas dinner. Not a bad place to spend such a special day, right?

Get Ready for the Big Challenge: Base Torres
That’s a wrap on Day 7 of the O Circuit. Tomorrow awaits one of the most iconic and demanding stages of the entire trail: the trek to Base Torres. Alongside the Los Perros to Grey route, it’s considered one of the toughest parts of the circuit—but also one of the most unforgettable experiences of the whole trip.
