What to wear to Iceland to see the northern lights
Iceland is very, very cold. This is why we recommend that you dress in comfortable thermal clothing. On top of your thermals, we recommend that you wear fleece, to keep warm. 🔥
Once you have already completed the first layers of clothing we recommend that you wear a good trekking jacket and pants suitable for hiking. Finally, you can’t miss a down jacket and waterproof ski pants.
The hands and feet are the parts that get the coldest, which is why you will have to invest in good gloves and sturdy boots to enjoy this experience well wrapped up. We also recommend that you wear a warm beanie, as much of the body heat is lost through the head.
For a warm feeling you should wear a good scarf, with this you can cover your nose and protect your neck. Do not be afraid of the cold, the viewing of the northern lights is an incredible activity and if you are well wrapped up you will have no problem enjoying it.
We also recommend that you bring your camera to capture this magical moment. To be able to take better pictures, it will be better to bring a tripod with you.
By wearing more layers you will not be warmer. It is better to invest in quality clothing and good insulation than to wear several layers of clothing. Also, think about your comfort, the more layers you wear, the less mobility you will have.
